My name is Yu Mee Chien, I am originally from Malaysia, and I currently hold the position of Finance Controller, responsible for the financial management of Ventós’ subsidiaries in China and Singapore.
How long have you been working at Ventós?
I have been working at Ernesto Ventós for 6 years and 9 months. It has been a very enriching period, both professionally and personally, full of challenges and learning experiences.
Tell us about your day-to-day tasks:
My daily work revolves around the financial management of our subsidiaries in China and Singapore. I handle issues related to internal systems, I provide support to local teams, and coordinate everything related to incoming and outgoing payments and payments with suppliers and clients. I also prepare and analyze financial reports, including sales, purchases, bank transactions, and inventories.

Ventós stands out by offering a wide and specialized range of aromatic chemicals and essential oils. Additionally, we act as distributors of high-quality ingredients, carefully selecting each supplier to ensure traceability, sustainability, and excellence in every product.
What do you like most about your job?
What I value the most is the opportunity to collaborate with international teams. Constant communication with our subsidiaries allows me to learn every day, broaden my cultural perspective, and strengthen both my technical and interpersonal skills.
What is the base of your favorite perfume?
My favorite perfume is rose-based. I love its delicate and elegant aroma, which combines softness with an emotional depth that lasts. To me, rose represents beauty, balance, and serenity.
What smells transport you back to your childhood?
The smell of coconut immediately transports me to my childhood, especially to happy moments during holidays. It is a comforting scent that connects me with memories of freedom, joy, and family warmth.
What is your ideal vacation destination? What would your perfect vacation be like?
My ideal destination would be a place surrounded by mountains and a serene lake, where I can enjoy nature, breathe fresh air, and listen to the sound of water. It is the perfect environment to relax my mind and reconnect with myself.
Is there a talent or curiosity about you that people are usually surprised to learn?
People are usually surprised to find out that I have the skill to make handmade sweets. It’s a talent I enjoy cultivating and sharing with others, especially during special occasions.
What kind of music do you listen to? Favorite artist?
I prefer relaxing music, ideal for accompanying moments of concentration or rest. I don’t have a favorite singer, as I usually choose music depending on my mood or the activity I’m doing.
What is your favorite hobby?
I spend my free time reading the teachings of Confucius and reflecting on how to apply them in daily life. It is a habit that brings me inner peace and guidance in my everyday routine.
What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
"Listen before you act."
This advice has been key for me. It has taught me to better understand people, act with empathy, and make more conscious and accurate decisions.
If you could have a superpower for a day, what would it be and why?
If I could have a superpower for a day, I would choose the ability to transform suffering into joy through scents. I deeply believe in the emotional power of aromas, and I would love to use them as a bridge to heal and bring well-being to others.
