Spanish oregano, also known as Timbra capitata, is a shrub native to eastern Europe and although it is commonly called oregano, it belongs to the genus of thyme. This species grows in the Mediterranean and Portugal. It is a low aromatic shrub that grows in calcareous lands. Its lilac flowers, in the form of a glomerulus, are the characteristic element. Its production is as much of wild collection as of crops. Spanish Oregano is a product rich in carvacrol widely used in animal feed.
